The Long Pass ///Une longue passe

While skating on the Rideau Canal last night with Antoine (at minus 30 windchill!), I ran into a group of four youths who were playing with a puck while skating along the Canal. They would spread out and make long passes to each other across the huge expanse of ice, all the while moving forward. It looked like a lot of fun, and it made me think of the many long hours I spent playing shinny with friends on outdoor rinks.

///En patinant sur le Canal Rideau hier soir avec Antoine (le facteur vent était de moins trente!), j'ai croisé un groupe de quatre jeunes qui jouaient avec une rondelle tout en patinant. Ils se déplacaient en groupe et se passaient la rondelle sur de grandes distances, tout en allant vers l'avant. Ça m'a eu l'air très plaisant comme jeu, et ça m'a rappelé les belles heures passées à jouer au "shinny" avec mes amis sur des patinoires extérieures.
