Ice inside the garage ///Une patinoire dans le garage

The garage next to our house was very old, and it had been built with a concrete floor that was just a bit below ground level. In March, when the weather would warm up a bit, water would seep in and cover the garage floor. Overnight, the cold weather did all of the work and Presto! We had an indoor rink. We used it to shoot pucks at the net. I remember times when there was a raging snowstorm outside and we were calmly playing hockey inside the garage.

///Le garage à côté de notre maison était très vieux, et il avait été construit avec un plancher en béton qui était quelque peu sous le niveau du sol. Au mois de mars, lorsque la température réchauffait un peu, de l’eau s’infiltrait sur le plancher et ensuite gelait la nuit. Presto! Nous avions une petite patinoire intérieure! On s’en servait pour lancer sur le filet, et je me souviens de tempêtes de neige faisant rage à l’extérieur pendant qu’on jouait calmement au hockey.
