Lateral Moves ///Des feintes latérales

While watching a few shootouts in the NHL recently, I've noticed that players seem to score more often when they approach the goaltender laterally rather than coming in straight through the slot. Carlene, our Monday league goalie, told me that this was because it's harder for goalies to cover their angles well when they have to move laterally. So during yesterday's game, I got a breakaway (stole the puck from big George), and came in from the right side, cutting to the slot after the hash marks. I scored with a wrist shot high to the glove side, right near the post, because Colin had started to move laterally away towards the other side. Live and learn. I also scored on a delay move while Colin was diving towards me during a goalmouth scramble. I waited for him to fall then put the puck above him into the net. Patience is a virtue.

J'ai marqué avec un lancer du poignet en haut de la mitaine de Colin, tout près du poteau, car il avait déjà amorcé un mouvement latéral vers l'autre côté. Leçon apprise. J'ai également marqué en retenant mon lancer pendant un moment alors que Colin s'élancait vers moi lors d'une mêlée devant le but. J'ai attendu qu'il tombe sur la glace avant de placer la rondelle par dessus lui dans le filet. Comme on dit, la patience est une vertu.
